Decoration of Honour in Gold for Jan Lauwers

Jan Lauwers, whom we remember as the director of the production The Deer House presented at Divadelná Nitra Festival 2011, gets high Austrian decoration!

On 16th January 2012 the Austrian Minister of Culture Claudia Schmied will award the Belgian artist Jan Lauwers the Decoration of Honour in Gold for Services to the Republic of Austria. This decoration will be handed over during Needlapb 18 at the Akademietheater in Vienna in the presence of the Minister of Culture, Matthias Hartmann, the intendant of the Burgtheater, Frank Recker, the Belgian Ambassador, and André Hebbelinck, the Flemish Representative. That same evening Jan Lauwers will with his ensemble be presenting the very first reading of his new play, Marketplace 76, which he wrote on commission to the Burgtheater and the Ruhrtriennale.
