Theatre awards of the season BOARDS became a prestigious award since the year 1996. It is also the only Award in the theatre environment in Slovakia. In 2011 the 16th year is held
Prices in the form of a wooden board with a silver plate can be awarded to production and performance of all genres, which had its premiere in the past season of professional theater in Slovakia, in all genres: drama theater, opera, theater, puppetry, ballet and contemporary dance. The critics will decide - not theater directors or producers, or the politicians. The decision is made by the theater in particular – about which is good, or not.
The awards ceremony is traditionally an informal live theatre feast with the ambition to comment indirectly on current issues, theatre season and society. The theme for this year is water and all that it gives and takes. The awards ceremony is traditionally held in Nitra on the first day of the Nitra International Theatre Festival (September 23, 2011 in the evening in the Studio of the Andrej Bagar Theatre).
