Intersection: Intimacy and Spectacle, an international project held as part of the 2011 Prague Quadrennial which took place in June earlier this year, includes a presentation of works by 30 artists from all around the globe; these will in 2011 and 2012 tour festivals in Hungary, Serbia, Latvia, Norway, the United Kingdom, Italy, Estonia, Finland, and Portugal. The Divadelná Nitra is the only stop of the project in Slovakia. The visitors to the festival will have the opportunity to see works by Finnish, Latvian, and Portuguese artists.

A tribute to the artistry of stage designers and other theatre artists. An attempt at seizing their brilliancy, infinite patience, and genuine devotion to hand work in spite of its inevitable transiency.

Hans Rosenström (Finland)

Mikado

The installation is based on a scene from Cries and Whispers, an Ingmar Bergman movie from 1972. By using threedimensional sound, the author places the spectators in the midst of the narrative, performing arts a situation in which they become an integral part of the work and, through recorded text, are confronted with their own selves. A visit to the exhibition space takes 4 minutes. The installation is only accessible to one visitor at a time.

Terike Haapoja (Finland)

Closed Circuit, Open Duration

Dialogue is an installation representing a dialogue between human breath and photosynthesis. At each time that the visitor whistles, the trees used in the installation whistle back. Succesion is a video showing

the growth of bacteria on a canvas that was applied on the artist’s face. The spectators have the opportunity to watch how the bacterial colony is spreading all over the author’s portrait. Finally, Community is an

installation consisting of a video screening and an audio recording. The video shows the cooling of a carcass as recorded by a thermographic camera.

Touring Dance Teacher

A dance floor with marks showing basic tango steps that lures the spectators into dancing. The dance maestro is there to train everyone who feels like dancing.
